No pics today...but, good news from the docs. Both boys have ear infections...that's ALL! So, a week on antibiotics and they'll be good to go! (and as long as Isaac's infection stays in the ear...he'll be ok for surgery next week!)

It only took one trip to Urgent care for Eli, one trip (after begging for ANY canceled appt) to the peds for Isaac, TWO trips to Walgreens to drop off prescriptions and another trip to pick up the meds...and we were settled for the afternoon!

Other than the sick kiddos...my heart just broke today. I met the nicest homeless man and couldn't do anything to help him. I saw him this morning on our first trip to Urgent care, he was waiting by the Walgreens...carrying two suitcases. And this is the real homeless man...not the kind that begs for money or hand outs...the kind that just wants to be left alone. SO...I came home, found a suitcase that I could part with, took some of Joe's old shirts, shorts, pants, some new underwear I bought for my dad for father's day...I made a toiletry bag with soap, shampoo, lotions, razors, toothbrush, toothpaste....Chris helped me make a food bag...I even found a pair of tennis shoes that Joe could part with. AND...the boys and I loaded into the van to give this to the homeless man. He was still at Walgreens. I approached him with my bag and told him that my husband had somethings that he could share with him....would he like any??
He asked what I had...but, he only wanted clothes like he was wearing (old Dickies)...I told him that I had shoes (because I noticed earlier that his were held together with duck tape!)...but, he didn't want any tennis shoes...I told him that I had a bag of food that he could have....and he told me that he had enough food. He told me that his name was Johnny...and asked what mine was. And...he walked off. It just broke my heart. I could tell that he wasn't the kind of homeless person that took your money to buy liquor...he was homeless because of some "mental" health issue...he just needed help. I tried one last time as we drove away to offer him some money...and he wouldn't take any. He was just so nice, so sweet....and he looked horrible. He was the kind of person that people try not to make eye-contact with...but, I hope that just our conversation made him a little happier. If Joe ever comes home at a descent hour...I'm making him go out with me to find him and maybe he can find out from Johnny if there's anything that we can do for him.

It's just sad.

Now that I bummed you out....sorry....that's just what happened today. So...for me...if you ever see a homeless person (and not the kind begging for money), just give them a little smile...acknowledge their existence....and know that we're all brothers and sisters.

Amen!
(ok...I'll get my crazy bum to bed now!!!)

You are something else Mrs Roller. Don't take this the wrong way, but you are a totally different person now then what you were a few years ago. And in a good way. Not that you've haven't always been sweet, but you are in a different way now.

It's great that the boys are okay. I can continue our party schedule. Hey, I emailed you the paintball places. Chris is going to have a blast.

See you next week.

Oh Kathy, you're just the sweetest. What a genuinely nice person you are!

I'll be praying HARD that Isaac's ear infection stays in his ears and goes away very quickly. Let's get that surgery out of the way next week!

Sending many hugs to you guys...you're such a lovely little family and I can't wait to meet you.

What a WONDERFUL person you are! Most people would just look the other way. God smiled when you went back with the care package!

Praying that the infections clear up & all is well in the Roller household again!

Pray that infection does not spread so that that sweet young man can have his surgery.
You may have just earned another jewel in your crown

Infections -- stay in the ears -- or better yet -- GO AWAY!!

You are a truly beautiful person. I hope that you are able to instill that beauty into your children. What an amazing testament of God you were today!

Kathy...you are one extraordinary woman! I am so honored that I have had the privilege to meet you and call you my friend! You are amazing! I am certain that Johnny will remember you always as a kind soul who was looking out for him. Never doubt the power of love and the impact it can make on someone (even if they are mentally not there at the moment)

Glad that the boys are okay and it was just ear infections. I will continue to pray that it stays in his ears and just plain goes away to let you get this surgery done with...so you can add one more check mark next to all the things that he has to have done!

Love you lots!
Samantha

Oh Kathy you bring tears to my eyes. You are such a sweet and caring person. Your right...we need to acknowledge the 'real' homeless and be kind to them. I can't believe he wouldn't take anything from you but it could be a pride issue. I'll keep him in my prayers.
