Isaac started coughing a junky cough today and has a runny nose.

FIRST....
Thursday, February 26, 2009
I was busy playing with my coupons...and I looked over...and butt paste was everywhere! On his face, in his hair, on the carpet, his clothes, and that toy. Such a mess! After a quick bath, change, wipe down of the floor and toy...we're good to go!
I was a big girl today and had my blood drawn....to check for the DiGeorge junk in my genes. They gave me the tubes to take to Isaac's peds tomorrow to get his drawn (I keep procrastinating with him....I just don't want to torture him!). BUT, I have already started to prepare him. I gave him a full baby aspirin tonight(instead of his usual half tablet) (I ok'd it with the nurse)--to thin his thick blood, skipped his lasix tonight (so that he's not too dry), and I have the numbing cream out to lube him up tomorrow. We'll be ready to go!
I really should go to nursing school.
Why is it that I can surf the internet ALL DAY LONG...checking on my heart babies, coupons...whatever.....but, when I sit down for a few hours to start my TAXES...I feel like I'm going to DIE!!!???!?! Seriously, I started two hours ago...and I was jazzed, ready to finish it. Now...I've saved the file, and started blogging (shhh...don't tell Joe).
So...in the wonderful world of "Drama at the Rollers"...our garage door broke this week. The spring broke. So, I call me neighbor and get the name of the guys that fixed hers (thanks MK). But, when they came out...they tried to charge us $500! (seriously...I haven't told you Mk..but, can you believe that??). Today, while holding down my couch, I just typed in "Garage door repair in Las Vegas" and I clicked on the first one. I called them, they came out today....and parts AND labor...only charged me $170. SO...If you're in Las Vegas, and your garage door breaks....call me...I've got a good repair company for you! The girl on the phone was so sweet, the man that came was polite and nice....and they didn't try to rip me off!!!
I haven't made it to smog the stinkin' van yet (although, we washed and vacuumed it yesterday)...but, maybe that will be on my list tomorrow. At least if I get a ticket for expired tags...it'll be clean!
The big boys are doing good. Eli lost his glasses AGAIN...but, they were found tonight in Katie's (the dog) kennel. (don't ask) Chris had an Algebra test this week....fingers are TOTALLY crossed for him...he tries so darn hard.
and
Terri K. is back in town...if she doesn't call me this weekend, I'm going to start sending her BAD EMAILS!

in our world....
when it rains....
it pours....
in the last month....
Joe's motorcycle had a busted oil line (while he was on the interstate)...luckily, he didn't wreck...
he fixed it.
Joe got in a car accident...
we fixed his back and neck (sort of).
and the car is fixed...
The kids flooded the bathroom, which leaked into the downstairs living room via the ceiling...
that's NOT yet fixed, but on my list.
My van registration is expired.
I cannot remember each day to get it smogged and then pay the registration fee.
Joe's drivers license expired on Sunday, his birthday....
but, he'll have to wait until this up coming Saturday before he can make it to the DMV.
Tonight, while coming home from work (after a twelve hour shift), he gets pulled over for speeding...
with an expired license,
NO proof of insurance with him...
but, he gets off with only a ticket showing 5miles over the limit (what a sweet patrol man).
SNOT...it's either pouring from my nose or my head is too stuffy and I can't breathe...
BUT....with all that going on this month....we made it.
joe has a job,
we have a house,
two cars,
a motorcycle,
water is still in the pool,
turkeys in the freezer,
tons of food in the house.
chris might PASS an Algebra test,
chris started the rec center swim team,
eli starts soccer this weekend,
isaac is sitting up like a mad man,
and eating three times a day...
and i have the best husband in the whole world.
there's still another week in this month...
can you even imagine what might happen:( or :)

but....I was sick today and Eli had a talk in primary...
SO, Joe recorded his talk...
and it was SO DARN CUTE.
If you can't hear it very well, the topic was:
"Heavenly Father sent me to Earth to be with a family":
While the big boys and Joe were at church, Mandy came over and decorated the house for him! (he loved it Mandy). We had a pretty laid back weekend...with not too much drama.
I had to hold Isaac down tonight to cut his CRAZY long fingernails! Of course, he screamed his head off, and turned blue for about a good five minutes...but, they had to be cut. He keeps scratching his belly (it looks like he's playing the guitar)...and he has little cuts on his belly now from all that scratching. THEN, he's sucking on his index finger, and it's dried up and cracking really bad. SO, I put Neosporin on it and then covered it with a band aid. Except, he choked on the band aid when he sucked on his finger and it came off. (Do you think it's mean to put those little infant mittens on his hands to save him from himself?)
Mark (speech therapist), told me to order some "jigglers" for Isaac. They are these little vibrators to put in his mouth. Isaac will play with it for a little while, but I've seen that thing in Eli's mouth more than Isaac's mouth!
Happy Birthday to my sweetie pie husband, Joe. Who always seems to find my last nerve and just hang onto it for dear life. We have celebrated through some awesome times and the yucky ones...and today, although I may sneeze and cough on you, I hope that you have the most wonderful birthday and feel the love that we have for you. You work so darn hard for our family...and we appreciate all that you do for us.
and...this is why I LOVE A Thrifty Mom!

Joe and I went out for a few hours and left the boys home...
this is what we came back home to...
how precious!
Now...
look at both of their goofy faces!
still goofy...
and his cheeks are still red (his legs and arms have cleared up)...
he just slobbers so much, I can't keep his face clear!
ok...did ANYONE go to the Finish Line (besides Tasha...we already spoke)...and get your
Crocs for only $4.98?? Well, the day after I posted it, they were all sold out online.
Tasha, the smarty pants that she is, found some in an actual store for that price.
SO, I took Mandy (my sister, and bargain shopping buddy) to another
Finish Line store...and JACKPOT...we found MORE!
and today, we were at the outlets and the Croc store there has them on clearance for $10...some
as low at $2.00.
Here are the two newest ones I got...
Red Mickey Mouse for Eli and Green Wall-e for Isaac
(they were regular $29.99--and I got them for $4.98!)
I think they are going out of business...
so, if you still want some...find a store near you!
I've always been a bargain hunter...but, the last few months I've gotten better...
and THEN...learned TONS of new tricks from Wendy's class and
other's blogs...
and in about two months...this is how my food storage has grown.
I don't can potato pearls and beans...my kids would die before they ate that stuff.
We've always had a food storage of food that they eat....mac c cheese, soups, ravioli, cereal, pop tarts....just junk really.
But...my kitchen cabinets are full, the shelves in the closet under my stairs are full, and
here's an extra room upstairs...FULL! Nothing in this room cost over a dollar...all bargain shopping at it's best!
(even that dancing Brobee...regular $35.00, I got on clearance at Target for $6.00!)
and you know that my freezer is still full of Turkeys when I got them for $5.00!
oh...and the kids are good. I...on the other hand...feel a little snotty and sore throat. (hope it passes with lots of benadryl tonight!)

Alright...It's 11:00pm, and Isaac is STILL awake!!! He's only taking one afternoon nap...what's going on with him?? I suppose he's making up for all the time he slept his days away here and in the hospital.
I have a few tips..so, take note:
- If you haven't visited Sarah's blog, A Thrifty Mom, go and check it out!!!
- Then, go to Tasha's blog, she has a tip about a free photo book offer (scroll down, past the cute felt flowers and you'll see the link)
- AND...if that's not enough...go to Finish Line...they have kid crocs for $4.98! (I waited to tell you about that one after I ordered mine! One pair for me, Chris, Eli, and Isaac)
and...to end. Here's what Isaac looks like at 10pm...and, if you can believe it, he got louder as the night went on. He's NOT looking at anyone...just off in space. We aren't making him laugh and scream...this is just what he does.

I just watched Idol...
Tuesday, February 17, 2009
Isaac's little rash is getting so much better. The spots on his legs are almost gone...the face is getting better. (the wonder cream in working!) Nora and Nicole (our pt and dev. specialist) come over tomorrow...I hope Nora brings the "stander" for Isaac. (it's this contraption that you strap him to in a standing position to "force" pressure on those feet)
Moment to tear you up:
We were on our way to scouts tonight. Chris was telling me that he isn't sure if he'll go on a mission. Explaining that he just wants to finish college...put a rush on things.
So, Chris gets out of the car and Eli tells me that he wants to go on a mission for 10 years. Then, he tells me how much he loves to read the scriptures.
me: Well, which scriptures are you reading?
Eli: The big one. The Holy Bible!
me: What have you been reading about?? (because, seriously...how much can a 6 year old read?)
Eli: Oh, I'm on chapter two already.
Me: And..do you understand what you're reading??
Eli: Oh yes. I'm reading about how the earth was made. It was light and he said we will call this day and when it is dark we will call it night. And he planted a garden and it needs to grow.
and he just went on and on for about 15 minutes.
**NOW...we were so good about reading the scriptures nightly with the kids. Just a chapter a night...to read it and then interpret it's meaning. But, after having Isaac, we haven't been so diligent. Eli is seriously reading the Bible and understanding it's words. I DON"T even understand it sometimes without reading it multiple times. I am in complete shock. Eli is an avid reader (he gets this from Joe)...but, I knew he loved reading the scriptures. We got him a new set for Christmas. He carries them around the house. He has a book light and he carries it to bed every night with a book...but, I can't believe him. I couldn't be prouder of him. So Ana...here's your answer. Just buy a regular Bible...and let Marcelina read away (just be ready to be the interpreter!) Let me know if you want me to send you one like we got Eli.
Chris...I'm still working on that one. I'm not worried yet...he has 3 years to think about a mission. How lucky are we that he happily goes to seminary every morning...baby steps..baby steps.

Isaac is on a ROLL!!!
He's doing so stinkin' awesome...I can't even believe it! He's suppose to be the baby that gets every cold and germ bug around...but, he's doing wonderful. (he's still kept in a semi-bubble--keeping him in the stroller all the time is how I take him out in public...and NO ONE is allowed to touch him). I forgot to tell you that when Shirley, the nutritionist came by last week, she gave me MCT oil (but, it's powder form), so it lasts longer. This just adds more calories for him, and we're adding the DuoCal (powdered calories), and heavy whipping cream to everything he'll eat. (he will be a butterball one day...he will!) But, he weighed in at 20 pounds...still....and he's 32 1/2 inches long. Based on those measurements, she said that he's the size of a 10 month old (that's why he looks like a baby to me--and everyone else). But, he's still plotting along on his curve. I MIGHT be brave and head over to LabCorp tomorrow. I need to get my blood work done to see if DiGeorge is in me...and to also get ALL the littel containers my ped will need to suck out Isaac's blood (I hate to do it...but, we need to check those t-cells, his response to vaccines to see if he's ready for live vaccines yet, and now the allergy tests---I don't know if they can suck that much blood out at one time?)
The big boys are doing good. They still don't pick up their clothes, or towels after their baths...but, if that's their only problem...aren't I lucky?? (well, lucky until I yell and remind them to pick up their junk because I'm NOT the maid!)
I hear Isaac...laughing...again...in his crib. It's 10:00pm, and he's just having a blast laughing with himself (which, by the way, he doesn't laugh all day...it's this new energy he gets at night...weird!)

Not much happening here.
MANDY came over tonight. I watched my sweet little niece for a few hours. The only stipulation to watching other kids is, NO POOPING allowed! I have this thing...I cannot change other kids diapers...it just grosses me OUT! Well, wouldn't you know...she pooped! I tied a shirt around my face, and proceeded to change her diaper. Gagging, and gagging....(four times if you must know)...I don't know how I made it through (I don't know how her stinky odor made it through that shirt)...but, we did it! She was happy to wear some of Isaac's diapers with Mickey Mouse on them, I was happy that I didn't throw up...all is well.

Not much to report....or much time to report it...
so, here we go:
Isaac went to the immunologist. His office didn't get copies of past labs...so, there were known to review. He did look at his rashes...and gave me prescriptions for two new creams and an oral antihistamine (he's quite itchy). and...a lab slip to add to the one that I already have from him (so...I have to search for someone to draw Isaac's blood!) He thinks that he is allergic to something...we just have to find it now!
We made Eli's valentine goodies for his class.
Chris waited until 7:45 tonight to tell us that he had a two page report due tomorrow.
urrghhhh.....I'm just trying to get some sleep tonight (which...I did last night..just not enough--I don't know if it'll ever be enough!)
Wednesday, February 11, 2009
I am POOPED (still).
We go to see our immunologist tomorrow and he can check some labs that we had back in October and see if he knows what's going on with these rashes.
THEN, our nutritionist comes over. Maybe we can come up with more clever ways to get my little man growing.
We went out to eat tonight with Mandy and her kiddos (thanks Mandy).
ok...I'm watching Idol (recording Lost) and trying to keep Isaac's tube in his belly while he's kicking and rolling all over the place!
**OH...and I did NOT get my p90x on tonight. I woke up this morning and could barely walk down the stairs...the back of my foot is killing me. Maybe tomorrow!
Tuesday, February 10, 2009
We saw Dr. Baron today (our gi doc). In 4 months, my man has gained 1/2 a pound!! YEAH for Isaac! He's still on Isaac's curve...not the "regular kid" growth curve...but, steady on his own curve (which is WELL below normal). He saw all of Isaac's eczema patches and told me to GET to Dr. McKnights (immunologist) office..he thinks the patches are because of some allergy. (you now they're going to want BLOOD!) So, we got into see that doc on Thursday.
NO APPOINTMENTS TOMORROW!!!
Joe and I got our P90X on tonight. I almost made it the whole way through...whoo hoo!
(I just want to eat a bowl of cereal now...but, I won't LeeAnn...I'm trying to be good). for now.
Eli and I went to his school early this morning (like I don't have enough to do)...and we donated books to the library, then I walked Eli to his class, he picked out the shiniest chair to sit in...and was in heaven!
Chris...went to scouts tonight, didn't get on my nerves today...Job well done Chris!!!
ahhh...I have to ask questions about social security and medicaid...but, I'm pooped...so, remind me tomorrow (because I forget!)
Monday, February 09, 2009
and we FINALLY took it out today.
I could only work out for about 20 minutes
(Joe more than doubled my time)....
but...oh, if it works!
Then, I ate some pumpkin pie.
FINALLY, about 11:00 he fell asleep in my bed...and I was able to put him in his crib. I walk down the hall to check on the big boys (because it's just habit...) and Eli was AWAKE, under the covers...with his book and book light...reading away. SO, I take him and put him in my room (in a little bed on the floor). BAM...like magic, he falls asleep.
NOW...I can sleep. NOPE...It's about 2am now...and I hear noises. (Joe doesn't...someone could come into our house shooting a gun...and he'd sleep through it). I sit up...listen carefully....and it's RAIN! RAIN in Las Vegas...are you kidding me?? Like a real rain storm! How weird!?!?!?
OK...now, I can go to sleep. Then, it's that darn 5:30 alarm...oh...my bones!
and the rest of our day proceeds as normal.
Tomorrow Isaac sees his GI doc. I don't expect any real changes to what we've been doing...but, it'll be nice to get a weight check...and any new ideas he may have.
OH...and Eli. He wouldn't go to school today. He just KNEW he would have asthma problems today. urrghh...where's my day of peace?? (anyone seen it??)
They're calling for RAIN again tonight (and snow a little higher up...oh my!!
Sunday, February 08, 2009
Here's a picture of Isaac with his pt on Friday...
we were trying to get him into "crawling"p position..
and he decided to stand!look at big boy Isaac (watching Yo Gabba Gabba)
and our sweet Nora!
(the boots help support his ankles)
and...
the face that he makes ALL DAY LONG!
(it's a good thing they released his tongue...
or he wouldn't be able to stick it out all day!)
It's been a really uneventful weekend...YEAH!!!
We've narrowed down the tile options that we'll have to replace upstairs...and I'll fix the downstairs ceiling (because I have MAD skills like that!)
Isaac is still wretching and turning blue once every night. I don't know what's going on with that stinker.
Eli is having problems with his little eyes. He said that the words in his books are still playing tricks on him and moving around...so, I'll take him to see the latest eye doc that looked at Isaac.
Chris fell asleep tonight about 6:00...poor thing.
Joe and I...we're just chillin' on the couch...preparing for another week.
yuck.
Thursday, February 05, 2009
Sweet little Isaac...
red little face patches...
still....someONE keeps sucking on their fingers and thumbs...
Our insurance adjuster comes by tomorrow morning to check out my ceiling (which is now full of new water stains!)
Nora (the great pt) comes by tomorrow also (we'll have a busy morning).
Chris and Eli are alive and well.
**Your laugh for the day**
Two days ago I drove Joe's rental car to pick up the boys from scouts. Well, this car doesn't have automatic lights...and I forgot to turn them off. So, he gets ready to go to work the next morning...and the battery is dead. He has to jump it! (oops)
Now...it's this morning. I get up early to take the boys to seminary AND get gas for Joe in his rental car while I was out. Joe tells me tonight that I did it again...I LEFT THE LIGHTS ON....and the battery was dead when he got ready to leave for work. (oops again)
I guess I can't drive the rental car again:(
Wednesday, February 04, 2009
We went to see the peds today (which...I just LOVED him..by the way). All the bumps...and nothing's wrong with Isaac. He said it must have been some kind of virus and now it's just residual bumps. They should go away this week...if not, we head back in. I tried to take a picture...but, he can't be still! (and you can see the red face is still there)
like a taco...
all folded up.
and here is Mr. Man watching a little television while being fed....
I get back from the peds, pick up my boys from Mandy's house, and we're home. I ask Chris to start Eli's bath water, tell Eli to get in the bath, Chris needs to start his homework, while I start Joe's dinner and start Isaac's feeds. Well, Joe walks in. Eli comes downstairs. I scream.."Eli..why aren't you in the bath?" RUN Eli RUN! Joe...what's that noise?? Well, it would appear that water was falling through the ceiling onto the floor. The bathtub OVER-filled and our bathtub is over our living room. Hence, our bedroom flooded and I had to put bowls all over the living room to catch the falling water.
Seriously. Why don't we have a reality tv show?? Writers couldn't come up with the junk that goes on in our lives!!!
So..I call the insurance company. Luckily, we're covered, an adjuster will come out...Joe's pulled up the flooring in our bathroom (it was carpet...yuck)...and NOW...I HAVE TO CLEAN MY ROOM because some strange man will need to come and evaluate it!
Calgon take me away...
please.
just take me!
AHHHHH!!!
Isaac woke up this morning with a RASH ALL OVER HIS BODY!
but, no fever.
off to the peds at 4:00 my time...
I'll update when we get back.
(mom...calm down)
Tuesday, February 03, 2009
no blood draws for us!
We found Eli's glasses! ok...well, Brittany found them at her house. Thank goodness! (They've been lost for over a week now) oopps!
Today when I picked up the big kids from school...they wanted to go to Denny's for FREE GRAND SLAM day! So, we go. AND...every kid from the high school was there! The line was SO long, and can you believe that they gave the kids coupons to come back another day for their free Grand Slam. How cool! So, tomorrow after school, we'll try again.
Mark (speech therapist) comes over tomorrow. It's kinda sad though...Isaac hasn't been eating very well because of that darn fever...so, I don't have any new tricks to show off.
I did hear from our home health people (the ones that bring Isaac's feeding pump supplies). Well, we decided to start adding the "simply thick" to his liquids to help start the process of him learning to drink. AND...our stinkin' insurance doesn't cover it. (i do hope it isn't very expensive) Is is Kelly??
ebay...here I come!
Other than that....just another boring day at our house.
oh...and my stinkin' (that's my word for the day) nephew, Seth, told me yesterday that I should clean up my house...it was too dirty.
seriously.
he's grounded!
that's all.
Monday, February 02, 2009
Isaac's temp hasn't been too bad today.
Melanie...I took a bum temp (and I told Isaac that it was all your idea!)...he wasn't very happy with you. But, without drugs, he was 101 (bum temp). So, I gave him Motrin...and it went back to normal.
I called the card. The nurse called back and told me to take him to the peds.
I was able to get into the peds office. Ears are fine, throat, nose...everything is fine. She checked every inch of his little body. There's no explanation for the fever. She said that a teething fever should only be 99...not 101-102...and for this long. SO...she told me if it remains this high for TWO MORE DAYS, then...we'll come back in for blood work and a chest xray. NOW...how in the world do they think they're getting blood out of Isaac's body??? (they'd have to cut open a hole and let it drip out!!!)
We shall see.
SO...other than the fever...he's perfect.
The big boys are running around the house (Eli is hiding at the moment to avoid a bath). AND...Eli lost his glasses AGAIN! (you know...it's impossible for someone who can't see to look for something...have you ever thought about that one!??)
I was able to visit with Lisa (mom to heart baby Mason). FUN, fun, fun....and her boys are just perfect.
I'm off to catch Eli...stinky little boy!
Sunday, February 01, 2009
A little Eli...
in the sun...
spinning his "star wars" umbrella! Two cool cats...
my nephew Seth, and Eli...
spending quality time on the climbing igloo.
And...I did it.
I finished the pettiskirt.
It is NOT PERFECT...
and...
I don't know if I'll attempt it again..
but, it was great trying and "kind of" finishing it!
***All Heart Moms....I need to know if I should call the card. Isaac has had a fever on and off for a week now. Today and yesterday...even with meds every 4 hours...it doesn't let up. It hasn't gotten above 101.5 (on the forehead). He's been just so darn miserable. He still seems to be fine...so, it must be his teeth. BUT...is it ok that his body has having this fever for so long (I mean...is it hurting his little heart??) Isaac's heart already beats faster than normal...and when he has a fever, it beats even faster. ( i just don't want to worry if I don't need to...and worry if I need to)
and you KNOW that I've been on the internet. I tried to tell Joe that Isaac must have rheumatic fever...with the crazy rash and all. (I know...I've gotten off the internet).
other than that...everyone is great.
My sister, Mandy, has officially moved to Vegas. SO...her crazy kiddos will be in many of the pics from now on (the cute skirt is actually for her).
Well....Joe and the big boys are up in bed...just leaving me downstairs with the crazy Isaac (who's finishing a feed). fingers crossed for sleep tonight!
